File Based Processing^® (FBP) is a high-integrity document processing solution for Folder Inserters. FBP does not assume every mail piece is correct until it is assembled, processed and proven so.

The need for this type of high-integrity processing is required in many markets including but not limited to Financial, Banking, Credit, Medical, Insurance, Legal, Payroll, Government, High-Value Invoice/Statements environments and many more.

With FBP, a “Reference File” known as the Mail Run Data File (MRDF) is created in pre-process as the documents are electronically sorted, grouped and if required, postal sorted. Document integrity barcodes are added to the documents at the same time. This process is completed using FP’s FlexStream document management solution or other compatible applications.

Organizations that are accountable for every mail piece processed and require confirmation that the mail run was 100% processed correctly, drive the need for File Based Processing^®.

The MRDF created by the software is sent to the PC that is connected to the inserter. The MRDF contains each document record in a given job, including how each document is to be managed through the entire folding and inserting process from page counts to selective operations, and documents already printed that do not need to be mailed. As the Inserter reads a barcode on each sheet, it matches that barcode data to the record in the MRDF verifying every sheet and insert that is part of that envelope set.
